I've always been bothered by the Blue Scare in my blood-red state. There's an excess of partisan zealots and demonizing of those with different political views. Did you know to keep a Democrat away from a baby because it'll suck out the child's breath? I learned that last Sunday. The freedoms we enjoy require that we listen to and consider other's ideas, as our society only functions as well as we coordinate and compromise.
Also, it's disturbing how little we, USA #1, know of our own government and politics (present company included). I think most people want a better understanding of it all, but picking it up can feel a bit daunting, like jumping into Lost in the middle of the third season.
Now, I'm no poli-sci major. The realm of politics makes me feel a long way from the Shire. But you need to start somewhere, right? If you share my insecurities, take my hand, and we'll do this together. Baby steps to informed citizenship.
And so I humbly submit The Bipartisan Curious, a hodge podge of everything political. Read, consider, comment (respectfully, if you please).
